Lewis County Offers Par for the Course

For those who like to take a swing on the green, both ends of Lewis County offer premium golf courses.

Riverside Golf Club in Chehalis was founded in 1927, and is open to the public from dawn to dusk all summer. The 18-hole, par-71 course has several holes bordering the Chehalis River. Despite severe flood damage last December, it is business as usual at Riverside.

Rates for 18 holes Monday through Thursday are $26 and on weekends the cost is $34. To play nine holes it will cost $19 on weekdays and $24 on weekends. There are discounts available for youth under age 17 and for those age 60 and older. Large and small buckets of balls are available for the driving range at a cost of $8 and $4.50, respectively.

Riverside is located two miles west of Interstate 5 at exit 79, behind the Chehalis-Centralia Airport. Information is available by calling 748-8182.

Newaukum Valley Golf Course, located south of Chehalis on Jackson Highway, features a 27-hole course and outdoor driving range tucked in among open farmland and the Newaukum River.

A nine-hole game during the week will cost $16, 18-holes will cost $22 and the entire course runs $28. On weekends, the cost is $20, $30 and $40 respectively. Senior citizens discounts are also available. Call the pro shop at 748-0461 for directions and information.

Ironwood Green Golf Course is a short nine-hole found along U.S. Highway 12 in Glenoma. The flat course is a par-30, with creeks running through several of the holes.

Cost to play nine holes is $9, and the cost to play 18 holes is $12. Senior citizens receive a discount. Information is available by calling (360) 498-5425.

 

Maple Grove Golf Course is a nine-hole, par-31 course in Randle. From exit 68 on Interstate 5, follow the White Pass Scenic Byway (U.S. Highway 12) east about 40 miles.

Nine holes of golf at Maple Grove will cost $9 for non-members, $8 for members. Cost to play 18 holes is $14 for non-members and $12 for members. Yearly memberships are available. Call the course at (360) 497-2741 to find out more.
