Great Music and Fishing in Mineral

The small town in the shadow of Mount Rainier is known for its lake that fills with fishing boats on opening day, and in recent times, music performances at its former grade school.

Mineral sits off of state Route 7, north of Morton and 15 miles from the south entrance to Mount Rainier National Park.

Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad has made its home in Mineral since the 2006 flooding that inflicted track damage at the Nisqually River bridge. The non-profit organization takes passengers on its tourist trains from Mineral to Divide, and sometimes all the way to Morton.

Many visitors come to fish in Mineral Lake, bringing their own boat or renting row boats, paddle boats or pontoon boats.

The Mineral Lake Event Center has a summer season schedule that includes jazz and blues festivals, a gospel music festival, a film festival and a country music show.
