What began in the late 1930s as a “friendly competition” between men who worked in the woods has grown to a four-day festival in the small East Lewis County town that attracts thousands of visitors each August.

The highlight of the Morton Loggers Jubilee is the loggers show, when wood chips and sawdust fly as axes, huge hand saws and chain saws heat up. It all happens with the tree-covered Cascade foothills as a back drop in Morton, halfway between Chehalis and White Pass just off U.S. Highway 12.
Amateur and professional loggers from around the globe compete. World records sometimes are broken.
The summertime celebration in the town of 1,000 begins with the coronation of the Jubilee queen and includes dancing in the street and riding lawn mower races as well.
The two-day logging competition showcases speed climbing to the top of an 80-foot “spar” pole, axe throwing, log rolling and all manners of sawing big logs fast.
