Steam Train

By The Chronicle

The Chehalis-Centralia Railroad & Museum is one of only a few steam powered standard gauge tourist railroads in the State of Washington. Their trains operate over a nine mile section of track that extends southwest from Chehalis. This historic rail line was previously operated by the Milwaukee Road, and later the Chehalis Western Railroad. The line winds through scenic hills, farmland, and over several wooden trestles.

Locomotive No. 15 offers rides all summer, traditionally through the valley west of Interstate 5, past grazing cows and wooded groves.

Dinner trains for Mothers’ Day, Father’s Day, and murder mystery runs and others are lined up.

The Chehalis-Centralia Railroad and Museum can be reached at 748-9593 or visit www.steamtrainride.com.
